Since the beginning of May, flooding in Thailand has been very bad. The Sonca and Doksuri tropical storms brought heavy rain to many areas. Villagers living near rivers or in lowlands were victims faced with flooding. Water levels were very high and the villagers had to transport all their belongings to higher ground. The roads became impossible. For three months the villagers were faced with flooding and lack of drinking water and food. SINGHA R-SA immediately traveled to the worst affected areas to help the victims.
On 11 October 2017, SINGHA R-SA traveled to Chum Saeng district, Nakhon Sawan Province, Buri district, Sing Buri Province and several other areas including Phak Hai district, Bang Pra In district, Bang Ban district, and Sena district in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province to hand out 50,000 liters of drinking water, 10.5 tons of Pan Dee rice, other dried foods and 500 packs of cooked food to the flood victims.
The flooding was widespread, many houses were damaged and some collapsed into the water which in some areas was neck deep. This was not a problem for SINGHA R-SA. We went to the victims’ houses to relieve their sufferings and put the smiles back on their faces. During the mission we received great encouragement from the villagers. This recharged our energy to continue the mission. We thanked everybody for their good wishes. This gratitude from the people who were suffering urged us on to complete the mission which would not have succeeded so well without the help of the volunteer groups listed below:
