Every rainy season, many areas of Thailand have to face flooding. We created “the sufficient vegetable plot” as a project to prepare people for this disaster.

On 20th December 2018, Singha R-SA went to Ban Sai Ngam School, Thakham sub-district of Phunphin district in Surat Thani Province to construct a sufficient vegetable plot. We cooperated with the scholar network from Suratthani Rajabhat University, Suratthani Agricultural and Technology College and volunteers of the Design for Disasters (D for D).

This vegetable plot was made from waste materials, including plastic bottles and foam sheets, so that it could float on water in times of flooding. The project was developed from the idea of Mr. Sangvian Toytad, the leader of Ban Sai Ngam village, and adapted and improved by D for D.

This is one way that Singha R-SA helps people prepare themselves for future disasters. We don’t just go to problem areas to give out food and drink but apply our practical knowledge to help people in disaster areas to overcome their problems.
