upporting Forest Firefighters with Water – SINGHA-R-SA

There were many forest fires in the north of Thailand in the months of March and April 2019, especially in the provinces of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Mae Hong Son which faced fire and smoke every day. This prompted Singha R-SA to set up forest-firefighter support centers in various areas of northern Thailand and cooperate with a network of companies and universities to provide the forest firefighters with water and rice.

The centers supported firefighting officers in 20 areas across the provinces Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Nan, and Phayao. This required the close cooperation of Singha Park Chiang Rai Company Limited, Chiang Mai Beverage Company Limited, Mae Hong Son Beer Limited Partnership, and our distributors who all worked together with Singha R-SA and Thailand’s northern universities of Chiang Mai University, Maejo University, Mae Fah Luang University.

Over April 2-3, Singha R-SA—along with Mae Hong Son Beer Limited Partnership and volunteers from Chiang Mai University and Mae Fah Luang University—traveled to many areas bringing water and rice to the Director of Control and Fire Operations Division (District 15, Chiang Rai), staff at the Chiang Rai Forest Fire Operations Center, the Representative of Mae Hong Son Provincial Chamber of Commerce, the Director of Conservation Area Office 16, and the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office in Mae Hong Son Province.

Forest fires affect animals as well as humans, while forest fires create smoke containing PM2.5 particulates which negatively impact human and animal health alike, so everyone tried to resolve this issue. Singha R-SA therefore thanks everyone was involved in this mission.
