Sightseeing by Bicycle @Ayutthaya

Thanks to the Thai soap opera Buppesannivas (Love Destiny), the attention of Thai people has been sharply focused on the history and culture of Ayutthaya. On 25th April 2018, therefore, Singha R-SA teamed up with Channel 3 News and partner networks to celebrate Thai culture through the creation of “Ayutthaya Bike-Sightseeing”, a sightseeing tour of Ayutthaya by bicycle to give visitors to the city a chance to enjoy all the famous sights on two wheels.

The idea behind this sightseeing activity was to show both Thai and foreign visitors a side of Thai history they might not have appreciated before, and by exploring antiquities and historical sites to give Thais a chance to feel proud of their own rich culture and heritage. Furthermore, the twenty bicycles and all the subscription fees collected were donated to the Fine Arts Department in order to promote ecotourism in Thailand.

While the cycling was fun, there was a further mission to accomplish for Singha R-SA with the help of the cast of Buppesannivas and Neungdawfardiaw (One Land, One Sky). Along with an army of volunteers from Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University, and Ayutthaya Technical College a big clean-up of all the major historical sites was organized.

This very important task, while challenging, was still enjoyable despite the heat, and the volunteers kept going admirably in the knowledge that they were making a great contribution to the upkeep of Thailand’s national heritage. At the end of the day, Singha R-SA thanked everyone involved for their participation and for making the day’s events a resounding success.
